The Holy Trinity is one of the great mysteries of the Christian faith or as the hymn writer put it “Father, Son and Holy Spirit blessed Trinity. This is not the place to debate the theology behind the Holy Trinity but for me during my Christian life all three persons of the Trinity have become very real.
For the Christian the Holy Trinity demonstrates the importance of community as even God expresses community as it is at the heart of who God is. It is why the Church should be a loving community that continually reaches out to the wider community.
It also explains for me why humans everywhere enjoy doing things together and sharing their experiences.
St Albans is a great city with a strong community feel and is made up of local neighbourhoods each with their distinct sense of community.
It is so easy to take it all for granted. So this summer period, when many regular activities stop, let us continue to practise community. This could be keeping an eye on elderly neighbours who may be struggling in the heat or looking after neighbours houses and gardens while they are away. It could be opening up our garden for a BBQ or even organising an impromptu street party (please don’t break any bylaws though!). How about supporting some of the local activities that are being organised during this period.
Above all let us be thankful for, enjoy and support our local community and have a great summer!
