Traffic chaos is expected to last for four weeks as main roads in St Albans city centre will be closed for road works to take place to make way for a new hotel.
Reconstructing of the carriageway and footways will take place at the rear of the new Premier Inn in Drovers Way from the junction of Catherine Street, to the junction of Russell Avenue.
The work began on Monday and is expected to be completed on Sunday, August 3. Work will take place between 9am and 9pm.
Diversions for cars and light vehicles: A4147 Catherine Street – Folly Lane – A5183 Verulam Road – High Street – A1081 Chequer Street – St Peters Street.
Diversions for HGV’s: A4147 Catherine Street – Folly Lane – A5183 Verulam Road – A4147 Blue House Hill RBT – A5183 Verulam Road – High Street – A1081 Chequer Street – St Peters Street.
