Officers from the Welwyn Garden City Safer Neighbourhood Team are inviting people along to a crime prevention event taking place next Friday. The team will be in Waitrose in the town on Friday, April 5 between 12pm and 3pm offering crime prevention advice to keep shoppers safe. They will also be giving out free purse bells and purse chains which ring and alert the shopper when the purse is removed for their bag.
PCSO 6150 Rosanna Montalbano from the Welwyn Garden City Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “PCSO Andrea Dutson and I will be in Waitrose meeting with shoppers and ensuring they are armed with information and tools to keep themselves safe whilst out and about.
“We’d welcome people to come along and see us. Although the town is very safe, there is always the threat of purse dippers operating so it’ll be a great opportunity to pick up some advice.”
If you cannot make the event but would like to speak with your local Safer Neighbourhood Team, you can call them via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number, 101.
