Elderly people in St Albans will have the opportunity to have their say on community transport and patient care at an Older People’s Forum this week.
The forum, organised by the district council, aims to give people aged 60 years and over a voice to influence decisions affecting their quality of life.
The evening will invite residents to hear speakers from the council to discuss the future of community transport and NHS Hertfordshire to talk about GP commissioning of patient care and its impact on local health services.
Councillor Brian Ellis, portfolio holder for housing at the council, said: "The forum gives older people a voice about issues that affect them. At our first event in December last year there were heated discussions about welfare reform and community transport.
"I anticipate that there will be many more fruitful discussions and useful interchanges of ideas at this next forum in London Colney. Please come along and make your voice heard."
There will also be opportunities to find out more about free health and wellbeing workshops delivered by Oaklands College in partnership with the council.
The topics include eating healthily on a limited budget and cooking for one.
Free workshops can be booked for individuals and local groups. To find out more contact Nicky Flynn on 01727 814602 or 07770 701801.
The meeting will take place on Thursday at the London Colney Community Centre in Caledon Road from 2pm to 4pm.
