Radlett residents have been left angry at news the town’s Royal Mail delivery office will relocate to Borehamwood early next year.

The postal organisation has confirmed the office will transfer from Watling Street to Shenley Road, a distance of nearly four miles, in February.

Sarah Dawson, 43, from Loom Lane, said: "I am really annoyed that we will have to go to Borehamwood. How do they expect people to get there if they have no car? The bus transport system here isn’t exactly reliable."

"I feel sorry for the elderly people who will have to travel miles in English winters to go and collect a parcel."

Royal Mail said the move came as a result of "declining mail volumes and increasingly tough trading conditions”.

Nicole Mullet, 37, from Station Road, said: "Going to Borehamwood to collect a parcel really is a long way when you have young kids.

"It’s definitely going to be an inconvenience."
