Thefts from shops has increased by 67 per cent across the district compared to last year.
Meat, alcohol and clothes are the preferred items to steal from shops in the St Albans district according to Hertfordshire Constabulary, who have launched a new app so people can help catch criminals.
Since April 2016 there have been 368 shoplifting offences in St Albans, Harpenden and London Colney - an increase of 148 from last year.
